About the Role:
The Compliance officer is responsible for ensuring the business adheres to all relevant legislation, regulations, and user group rules including but not limited to relevant regulators and all relevant industry best practice. Testing and assessing compliance across the business and ensuring any required Compliance changes are successfully implemented into the business. Managing engagement with Regulators and other industry associations in which Experian has an interest.Responding to proposed regulatory change and assessing and communicating the impact thereof. The Copliance Officer will be working with the Head of Compliance in EMEA, and the role is also responsible for the delivery of a strong compliance and governance function which is underpinned by the Global Compliance Management Program (CMP).

Key Responsibilities/Outputs:

1. Accountability

Ensuring the business is provided with compliance advice and support;
Be the first point of escalation for any compliance related incidents;
Working with operational business to test and assess their compliance risk against the CMP;
Keeping the Head of Compliance; EMEA informed of the compliance risks across the business and the actions being taken to mitigate these risks;
Support the business with the implementation of regulatory requirements further to legal interpretation; and in particular in relation to new regulatory announcements, communicate the change (and oversee implementation) to any impacted areas;
Work with legal to understand the impact and any risks associated with potential change, ensure the Global Risk Management framework is considered and utilised, as necessary;
Complete compliance due diligence for all business acquisitions;

2. Policies and procedural responsibility

Responsible for effectively delivering CMP across the business within an agreed timeframe;
Ensure compliance queries are managed effectively;
Ensuring a product development and approval process is developed and embedded within the business;
Manage and oversee compliance support for business projects;
Development and delivery of a robust reporting process to the Head of Compliance; EMEA, which comprehensively demonstrates the level of compliance risk mapped against CMP;
Ensure compliance mandatory training is completed across the business in a timely manner;
Develop (where necessary) and deliver face-to-face compliance training;
Ensure policies and procedures in relation to oversight are written and regularly maintained;
Establish and deliver and report on a Compliance Review and Testing Programme;
Liaise with the Global Risk Management and Global Internal Audit to ensure that any compliance risks/ actions/ recommendations that they have recorded are inputted into the programme and remediated where appropriate;
Ensure Global Policies (incl. Anti-corruption) are embedded and understood locally
Manage the Compliance Incident Reporting process and post-incident reviews;
Provide comprehensive reporting of issues and incidents to Head of Compliance; EMEA;

3. Advice and guidance

Provide compliance support to the business on queries, projects, acquisitions, product developments, bids and tenders;
Liaise directly with clients on any compliance related matters as and when required by the business;
Regulatory registrations, reporting, engagement, examination and industry matters

Candidate Profile (Requirements)
Key Skills (Functional/ Technical):

• Fluent in (written & oral) English
• Strong communicator at all levels with experience of working with management and external stakeholders;
• Strong relationship management skills will help facilitate a pro-active and effective compliance-to-business relationship;
• Good risk based judgement skills including the ability to assess compliance risks appropriately with commercial needs;
• Intuitive self-starter with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively for themselves and their Team;
• To be recognised as a role model who leads, solves problems and inspires
• Fully embraces Experian Global behaviours;
• Ability to rapidly assimilate and interpret information covering a wide range of diverse business areas and the associated risks/regulations;
• Capable of evaluating the impact of risks and breaches;

• Ability to work well independently or as part of a Regional team;

Qualifications and Experience:

• Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline;
• An understanding of the regulatory environment in which a CRA/data organisation operates;
• Experience in a compliance oversight type role is preferred although not essential;
• Experience of incident management is preferred although not essential;
• Experience of developing processes and writing reports to a high standard;
• Experience in dealing with and reporting on compliance risks & issues;
• Some knowledge and experience of developing and implementing compliance governance frameworks;
• Good knowledge and experience of the practical application of relevant laws/regulations especially Data Protection/Privacy;
• Experience of developing processes and writing reports to a high standard;
• Experience of presenting to senior leadership (up to Director-level).
